Leading the design, development, evolution, and support of a sales tax service used by all major selling systems within Home Depot.

• Build scalable APIs deployed to Pivotal Cloud Foundry to handle the processing of over $8.5 billion worth of sales, rental, and use tax from multiple selling channels
• Ensure resiliency of our applications by proactively monitoring applications with New Relic APM and Wavefront metrics generated directly from our APIs
• Increase frequency of deployments to Production by building CI/CD pipelines that pass all Finance IT standards for change control
• Enable the SAP S4/Hana teams to calculate Use Tax using the Tax Commons vendor by wrapping a vendor's application in a Docker container and deploying it to Google Compute Engine
• Work with the Tax Commons vendor to build and test their applications in a Docker environment and on Google Kubernetes Engine

Developed a facade for an existing legacy tax system that allowed the Installed Sales group to charge customers tax on installations of items available on homedepot.com. This lifted hd.com sales by over $100m in 2018. This work was the precursor to the current Tax Commons product at Home Depot.

Worked with a team composed of CloudFoundry administrators, IT Change Administrators and internal audit, and the software engineering community within The Home Depot to understand and develop software that tied deployment events on PCF to a Change Record in ServiceNow. This enabled software engineers to push code while maintaining compliance with The Home Depot's IT controls.

Password Reset • January 2017 — July 2017

Team lead for a small group working on the Password Reset application

• Handled password resets for all store, distribution center, and corporate associates and contractors
• Offloaded almost 100,000 calls to the IT Helpdesk per year, saving the company over $4m per year in costs to both helpdesk and associates
• Cut customer-facing support time from minutes to seconds in the event a password needed to be reset

Knowledge Depot — Saba Cloud Implementation • October 2014 — December 2016

Led the second implementation of Saba software for Knowledge Depot, this time on Saba Cloud. Despite the product name, it ran on Linux VMs provisioned for our team on-site. The system is used by every associate in Home Depot to take required web-based training, such as Lift Truck safety or Data Privacy training, with 350,000 associates logging in at least once a month.

• Designed a custom server cluster to meet Home Depot's needs, moving from JBoss EAP to the lighter-weight JBossAS
• Installed Saba software on the cluster
• Worked with Oracle DBA to tune a RAC system to work with the Saba software
• Worked with the DBAs on an Oracle 12c database tier using GoldenGate replication, including a third replicated database for Crystal Reports reporting
• Worked with Store Networking to build a prefetch system that populated 2,200 Squid caches with learning content nightly

Drove stability and performance of the original Saba-based Knowledge Depot learning management system, built for 250,000 monthly users, through Spring Hire season and beyond, while training volume grew 120% year over year on the new system.

• Performed system checks and diagnosed production problems
• Worked with the vendor on performance problems, documenting our issues down to the code level
• Partnered with SAN engineering, Operations, and Networking to identify performance bottlenecks
• Integrated LMS data with a third-party vendor to power a rewards program for product knowledge (PK) certification

Java developer supporting enterprise applications for HR Solutions, including staffing systems that served hundreds of thousands of applicants per year.

• Supported and developed the Retail Staffing Candidate Gateway, a custom training solution, and the Employee Self Service modules
• Helped move an application deployed on WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to Tomcat
• Deployed training material to the custom training system biweekly, including store cache cleanup tasks
• Discovered a bug in a cron job that was rapidly filling the MySQL server's disk while training on one of the staffing systems. Worked it through to resolution and averted a production outage of the 2nd highest traffic public homedepot.com website
• Nominated for the IT Pillars of Excellence award within 90 days of starting the role
